As you should be…a “normal” grieving spouse! Sorry for the loss of your wife. I’m a strong believer in the “afterlife”. If you miss her, just talk to her. She’s around, looking over your shoulder. Look for the signs, in the words of a song, a favorite bird or animal of hers that pops up, or a stranger you meet in casual conversation who has a “message” for you.
In Hawai'i I was introduced into the understanding of there not being an "afterlife" - but one existence taking place in different vibrational frequencies. Hard to accept in a world dominated by matter. However, after some personal experiences to that fact, I share your sentiment. When one of my best friends passed away many years ago, his wife/widow chose this sentiment:

Since the "Double Slit Experiment" we have the indication of everything simply being a variance in frequency - how energy cycles. For that reason, what we can no longer "see" in this pane - has changed its vibrational frequency over having disappeared.

Perhaps I used too broad of a brush. I’m mainly referring to the Conservative Inc grifters and their mindless followers, which is why I put quotes around conservative. In this country, conservatism has been replaced by Trumpism, which in no way resembles conservatism.
There has not been true conservatism in ages. True conservatism is like keeping a household book (from Haushaltsbuch - the German term for keeping records) in order to know how much money comes in and how much goes out and what it is spent on.
My American ex-wife regularly ridiculed me when I kept that tradition alive - until I stopped doing it. Have not been able to get fully back into it. But it is the only way to manage one's finances.
